87.5 meters of precision – when logistics becomes a key technology

The Mahlsdorf wind farm (Brandenburg) represents a technological milestone in onshore wind energy: as the first wind farm in Germany with Nordex N175/6.X turbines, ten wind turbines with a capacity of around 6.8 MW each are being installed here by Nordex – planned by UKA.

Logistics is an often underestimated factor for success in this regard. Transporting the 87.5-meter-long rotor blades is one of the most challenging tasks in the entire construction process:

  • Infrastructure limitations due to tight curves, bridges, and town thoroughfares
  • Complex special permits and nighttime heavy-duty convoys
  • High technical requirements for transport vehicles and blade adapters
  • Maximum sensitivity of components to wind, vibrations, and handling

This new scale makes it clear that rotor blade transport is no longer just a transport process, but an integral part of plant development.

The Mahlsdorf wind farm impressively demonstrates how innovative plant technology, precise planning, and specialized logistics solutions work together to advance the energy transition.
