Wind and solar farm developer UKA has commissioned wind turbine manufacturer Nordex to supply 64 turbines for the German market. This is a further stage in its program of intensive project construction. In 2024 it ordered wind turbines from Nordex with a total capacity of over 1,000 megawatts. The current orders follow the recent extension to the umbrella agreement between the two companies. The systems being ordered are mostly the N175 model, with eight N163s. All the turbines in this order have a nominal capacity of 6.8 megawatts.
“This current order for 64 turbines brings the total number of wind turbines ordered by the UKA Group over the past 18 months to 226,” says Gernot Gauglitz, CEO and managing partner at UKA, commenting on the orders. “Together, they represent a total power generation capacity of over 1.5 GW. It is an extraordinary achievement that fills me with pride. Now that German policymakers have created the framework, I am delighted that we can move the energy transition forward together with Nordex. The close partnership between UKA and Nordex over many years is now bearing fruit, and we are now seeing the results of our shared efforts.”
“These new orders represent another important milestone in our partnership with UKA,” says José Luis Blanco, CEO of the Nordex Group. “We are delighted that UKA has once again chosen our latest N175/6.X turbine for the majority of its projects across Germany. This substantial investment not only reflects UKA’s confidence in our turbine technology but also underscores its clear commitment to driving the expansion of renewable energy and supporting a sustainable energy future in Germany.”
The latest order will supply 21 UKA projects in eight of Germany’s federal states, including the Roldisleben wind farm in Thuringia, which was commissioned in 2021 and will now be expanded to include two state-of-the-art wind turbines, and the Borgentreich wind farm in North Rhine-Westphalia, for which eight turbines will be supplied.
