ENVIRONMENTAL SPECIALIST (M/F/D)

THE ROLE:

  • Plans, coordinates, and conducts environmental studies and projects, including monitoring work quality, budget, schedule, and compliance with environmental specifications, rules, regulations, and laws
  • Experience with the development and implementation of environmental strategies, policies, and procedures for energy projects in their various phases, from pre-feasibility to construction and/or operation
  • Work on updating and implementing the company‘s environmental policies
  • Coordinate the application and obtaining of all kinds of environmental permits and sectoral permits
  • Serves as an advisor and consultant to management and staff on technical matters relative to environmental assessment functions
  • Ensure compliance with current environmental regulations at the national and international level (IFC, Equator Principles, etc.)
  • Review and validate technical documents issued by environmental consultants/specialists (for example: chapters for the entry of DIA or EIA, PAS, etc.)
  • Coordinate and work closely with internal cross-functional resources, work with outside consultants, and assist with liaising with governmental agencies on the siting, licensing, and permitting issues of renewable energy projects
  • Prepare detailed internal reports and provide support for preparing permits, regulatory reports, and other compliance submittals

THE INDIVIDUAL:

  • Higher education and preferred majors in natural resources management, environmental engineering, environmental protection, or related fields
  • Demonstrated experience and skills in undertaking environmental assessments, including screening, scoping, risk assessment, developing plans and supporting action plan implementation, monitoring, and reporting
  • Minimum 3–5 years of progressively responsible experience in an environmental, regulatory, or environmental
  • Business proficiency in Spanish and English. Additional third languages such as German or Portuguese are a plus
  • Previous experience in permitting energy development projects is required
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft: Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Openness to business travel
  • Driver’s License, category B
